On the Theme of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter
Abstract: The Heart is a Lonely Hunter is the first well-known novel of Carson McCullers’, an important American writer in 1940s. This book has been selected as one of the “Pokka Twentieth Century English Novels”, ranking the seventeenth one by the Random House American Modern Library. This paper attempts to analyze the theme in The Heart is a Lonely Hunter from three aspects: loneliness, American dream and racial discrimination, so as to reveal the deep meaning of the work.
